Just gonna ask in here because no one seems to care or reply on the webl forums. Any of the teachers know the plan? Is the plague(Nathan?) rebuilding the site? And if he is any estimated time it will be done? Any talk on region info or the fast tracking issue ppl have been bitching about. I'm just curious as to what's goin on they don't seem to tell us much or really even give input on any ideas.

Communication has never been webl's strong point.
Rotmo is working on a new site. Sadly, recent flare ups have left him feeling "less than motivated", and it is difficult to put a timeline on such drastic changes.

On this, not really. Truth told, if this is a huge issue, the best thing people can do is bring in more managers. The reason we stick with one is that if we split into 6 regions, we would have less than 50 managers in each region. Good luck getting fights scheduled consistently with those numbers.
More importantly, though, revival is there to work out any bugs that are left. I have heard that when we get fighters to 18(18), contenders and regions will be made active again, but I don't know how true that is. I'm sure it will depend entirely on how many bugs are left at that point.

I'm not even really sure who the "big guys" are who make the decisions lol. I feel like I've had some good ideas and seen alot of good ideas that just get passed over. But at least we have a region open and are able to play..

Bruce is the big guy.
Nathan is chair.
Ideas can be passed to me, Sin, or any other Mod. We can put it in the staff forum for discussion.

The big guys are Bruce (WeBL Commissioner) and Nathan (The Plague). Their have been a few distractions in the past week or so that have steered them a bit off course to say the least. As far as I know the plan is to reopen contenders when revival fighters hit 18(18). We have had regional restructuring in the past to accommodate rising and declining numbers so that shouldn't be a problem and cross-regional fights can prevent fights not being scheduled.
Bruce is working on things (albeit slowly) and so is Nathan. Bruce is continually tweaking the scheduler and recently fixed a sim problem that allowed a cheating flash line. He has a real job outside of WeBL and in the past he had delegated alot of problems to staff (ie: Morton's). Sadly I think Bruce may be a little unfamiliar with some of the sim programming that he developed over a decade ago. We just have to remain patient and be glad he is willing to work on it at all.
Nathan seems focused on putting a staff together and making the game more friendly to newer managers.
Rotmos site development will be a long ways off so don't look for that anytime soon. Hopefully he won't give up on it though but it will take a lot of time regardless of how many hours a week he commits.
As far as Fastrack goes I don't think it is going to help speed things up as far as revival is concerned. you are gonna have a bottleneck regardless because of the restart. It was the same way when WeBL first started and when status was pushed back to 28. Champs are going to start getting more byes which will allow the rest of the field to catch up. I would imagine fastrack will start back when revival ends or when the need for it arises but right now, I don't see it being that big of a deal.

Ok just nice I hear something from someone finally. I was wondering why the unsanctioned region caps out at 18/18. Surely it would create more interest if it was raised to 24/24 or even 28/28. It's pretty much a joke right now. I just fear we lose more managers than we gain at this stage
And I totally agree with the fast tracking leave it off for now. I actually like the idea of having it just for Regionals and off in contenders.
I'm not complaining here just a couple thoughts that if you guys think are good maybe pass along:). Just happy to be playing again

The Unsanctioned region was created so managers across other other regions could face off below Contenders status. There is actually no need for it atm because there is only the Revival region and we can face off against all other managers now. Managers have talked about raising the max status or letting Unsanctioned moving onto Contenders but that takes away from why the region was created in the first place. In the past, it was arguably an easier region to play than the geographical regions.
There are still many bugs to work out before fast-tracking gets turned on. I'd rather the game was fixed before we move on.

Get Rotmo over here so he can notice there are a few people who like and care about the game. Maybe he will become more motivated to do something with the site then

Get Rotmo over here so he can notice there are a few people who like and care about the game. Maybe he will become more motivated to do something with the site then He is here occasionally. He also is aware of the caring... there was some heated discussion, and he made the right move to take a breather and calm down. It will get done in time, I'm not much concerned about it.

Hi guys As I said in my post in the "welcome"-thread or whatever it was, I've been registered here for a while, but just forgot about it Will try to be more active here. Jim, remind me in chat if I get lazy I've taken on a huge project here, but rest assured : It will be finished. The thing that made me go "Oh fuck this, I'm taking a break" was a couple of heated discussions, plus some complaints that the damn thing still wasnt finished... That sorta thing just gets to me in a bad bad way. It also has to be said that the BA-bullshit didnt exactly help... Most of you BA-freaks are awesome guys, and I mean that, but I have absolutely zero understanding of the stunts you pull in there...some of it is just pure evil. If you could just keep it down a bit while I work, that would be great Anyway, the site will be finished when its finished Its a way off still, and its impossible to give you guys a time-estimate, but as I go along and get closer to the goal, that will be easier. So stay tuned And piphdar : All the ideas about the new site have been noted. I might not have replied to them all, but I keep notes of everything. Its difficult to give a definite yes or no answer to some of the ideas, I'll just have to evaluate it as I go along. But definitely keep coming up with cool stuff, and I'll do my best

Is it mostly about visual re-design, Rotmo?
Forget about BA, every mod can work with it. You know these is a kind of intellectual game- you say something, it's a thesis, and I put myself on the opposite side and begin to argue against you with antithesis. No matter what you say in fact I always can find an antithesis on it and start to wrangle. It's a mind games and it's funny and interesting. If you don't enjoy it just don't take a part in it.

I'm all on board with the thesis -> anti-thesis thing, some trolling can be cool. It's when it goes into allout harrassment I'm bothered by it. When its all just one side spouting crap, the other side not even responding. I've even seen the other side say "please, stop", and it still continued. Its not fun anymore at that point. Just schoolyard bullying. To be fun, it requires both parts being involved, and some back-and-forth. One-sided throwing of feces in only one direction is just horrible.
Its "mostly" a visual redesign of the frontend. I'm not touching the game-engine at all (simulator, scheduler, etc..). But there is some backend trickery involved, with some new features, rankings, new forum, etc..

BA is designed for scandal. What a scandal with no harrassment? Don't take it serious. If you go to the bar in the midnight you should not be afraid of losing some teeth. Though it's still a good place for free talking and watching what guys think about this or that. Pros and cons as usual.
