Reading WeBL Archived Files, sometimes i read something like: "IMO, the ideal ropist would be very heavy build". (In "fighter builds" section --> ropiest, by Bruce). This is just an exemple but from time to time I read that build matters in some way on abilities.
If I read rules on "Build: Has no effect on the fighter's abilities, but does affect his weight."
I'm little puzzled. What's the real impact of build in fighter builds? Thank you.

Build in fact has no effect on a fighter's stats, meaning you will not get any bonus points depending on the build you pick.
What it does is it utilizes your fighter's stats for his weight class.
Ex: You would make a clincher or slugger a very heavy build to utilize his stats in say the Welterweight division since you know you would be fighting opponents who are taller than you, thus weaker.
In the same example if you were to make that same fighter with a very light build you would be fighting in a weight class where your STR is gonna be equal to or less than the majority of your opponents.
This is where you get the saying that a very light built fighter will take more IPs than a very heavy built one.

It's worth noting here as well that commonly "build" can be used to disguise your fighter build sometimes.
Consider, for example, a ropist build at 80AP's
STR: 15 KP: 0 SPD: 15 AGL: 20 CHN: 9 CON: 14 HGT: 6 BLD: very heavy
It's not uncommon that very heavy is used for agility fighters, to maximize the agility on the fighter. Consider the same weight & height, but with a very light build:
STR: 21 KP: 0 SPD: 15 AGL: 14 CHN: 9 CON: 14 HGT: 6 BLD: very light
From the fighter description page, these two will look similar. Same height. Same weight. If you didn't go into checking out past fights against other opponents, you would have no way to tell a difference!
