Quick question: when? Why? Why retire one fighter after 1 AP loss? In short: when I should really consider to retire my beloved fighters?

short answer, when you feel like it. It really depends on your goals and what ap they lost, if you think they can be successful to a level you are ok with then keep them going, if they are no longer doing anything for you retire them. I retired my WT winner after he lost an AP not because he couldn;t still compete but because I didn't want to see him at less than his best after winning so much, if I get another title winner that loses an AP I will probably keep them going since I won't have quite the same sentimental feelings for them as my first one

Yeah pretty much the same here. if he's 18(18) and he loses an ap, the sludge through contenders can be rough and it may be best to retire him. If he's already at 110 ap's, or close to it, he still has plenty left in the tank to get on a winstreak and win you a title. All my WTs have come from 1ap loss contenders who lost there AP around 28 rating. I've fought for, and lost all of my title fights with 0 ap loss fighters . At 2 aps lost and he loses his winstreak, it's probably best to put him to pasture, though many have still won WT's with 2 lost aps.

Good to be back PI. Had a lot of RL stuff keeping me pretty occupied. I should be around a little more active now

There's a psychological aspect here too- you're not sure why you lose your fights- it's becouse you're that bad or you'd have won it but those missed APs don't allow you to win. Till your fighter has not lost an AP yet you may be absolutely sure- the problem is in you.
In general, to fight having an AP down is OK, having 2 APs down- still possible to win some WTs. 3 APs- would be hard especially for non KP.
