I noticed that some gyms have only a few fighters while others have dozens of fighters. Currently, I have few fighters so I can spend more time scouting and changing fight plans to suit a particular fight. However, if those fighters run into a bunch of tough matches and/or take lots of IP (or if I designed them poorly or train improvements poorly), it might be difficult to get a title match regardless of how much effort I put into fight plans.
Thus, I'm wondering if it is better to make a large stable consisting of two-three types of fighters and to have a few generic fight plans for each fighter. Instead of trying to make tailored fight plans, I'd probably have to design a couple of generic fight plans based on the style of my fighter and anticipated style of my opponent. It would reduce my odds of winning any particular fight (assuming my tailored fight plans are better than generic ones), but might increase the odds of getting a high status fighter with low IP. Then I could start focusing on the particular fighters that do well.
Is there a consensus among the teachers as to which strategy is better for getting to a title fight?

lol. Yes. If they are back to the old way of doing it, you can have 5 fighter in each weight division up to a total of 70 fighters.
Don't get me wrong, I love mega-gymming. But that really isn't the way to learn how to win with fighters. Less fighters = more concentration per fighter = more wins and less losses.
The first and most important thing to do is to read the rules (http://webl.vivi.com/eko/help.html). This will give you the basics on fighter creation, building fight plans, etc.
We'll help you to win titles, but you have to have a basic understanding.

Yes, like Sanford said. You really have to do what's most comfortable for you. I've done both and don't like mega-gymming too much. I can do it with successful results, but like Sanford said, you can give a few fighters 100% of your concentration as opposed to 70+ or 100+ fighters.

Before the crash we had different regions where you could basically autopilot a fighter straight to contenders fairly easy if your build was right and you had decent fightplans. It made it much simpler. Of course even in regionals you have some really good gyms that were hard to beat but chances were they were running auto as well, or at least you had fought them enough times you knew what to expect. Now with the restart region you could end up fighting a really good gym that you have never faced before and you really have no idea what to expect. (As i learned today when fighting Sanford:(
If you want to focus on learning the game I would suggest running low numbers. Perhaps even one or two fights a day until you get your feet under you. From there as you get some good fightplans in your inventory you can up the amount of fighters you run.
Remember it's a game and you're here to have fun. If you overdo it with the number of fighters you run you can become overwhelmed. Happened to me a few times. I'm constantly changing the number of fighters I'm running.

The key to mega-gyms is having a stockpile of reliable fight plans that cover most situations, and knowing which one to plug in and why.
It hasn't really been covered yet, but I consider two types of fight plans: 1) fight specific and 2) pre-made.
A fight specific plan is short (comparatively), and covers what to do to win a specific fight. If you're going to beat a good manager in an important fight -- usually you will have to do this.
A premade is a huge FP that covers most possible situations. You can use the same fight plan for a number of different matchups. You lose some accuracy here, due to it being the same every single time.
The sad truth is, vs new managers or vs other premades -- all you have to do is be just a little more prepared. This is why premade farm style megagyms are so popular. You can get RTs with them fairly reliably. WTs, though, not so much.

I can tell you that I have similar win% when I'm managing, say 10 fighters or 150 fighters, because it's like you lose more but also win more. Or maybe something is wrong with me? lol
But what guys said. You must decide what to do
